Sara Jane Schmidt

Sara Jane Schmidt, 52, of Mason City, died Friday, September 2, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Friday, September 9, 2016 at the Faith Baptist Church, 1807 South Kentucky, with the Pastor Greg Gosnell officiating. Interment will follow in the Rosehill Cemetery, Greene, Iowa. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 8, 2016 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 North Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City.

Sara was born November 23, 1963 in Davenport, Iowa. She was a musician at heart, she enjoyed playing the piano and singing. Over the years Sara performed with a group in numerous churches. She was an All-State trombone player. Sara was an excellent cook and was always baking fresh goodies to share with others. Sara was known to be a perfectionist. She cherished her family time especially her mother daughter time.

Those thankful for having shared in Sara’s life include her children; Paige Gramowski of Mason City, Daniel Gramowski of Carlisle, Iowa, parents; Mervin and Ruth Ann Schmidt of Mason City, siblings; Brenda (Loren) Stoneberg of Bondurant, Iowa, Steven Schmidt of Greene, Iowa, two half-brothers, and several nieces and nephews.

Sara was preceded in death by her grandparents and one brother Richard Dean Schmidt.
