Selina E. Gossweiler died Thursday, November 13, 2014, at the Rockwell Community Nursing & Rehab Center. Visitation, is scheduled 4:00 - 7:00 pm, Tuesday, November 18, 2014, in the Major Erickson Funeral Home at 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, Mason City. A memorial service is scheduled at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, November 19, 2014, in First United Methodist Church, at 119 South Georgia, Mason City. The Rev. Sean McRoberts will officiate. Following the service, inurnment will take place in Lynn Grove Cemetery, Rockwell, IA. Miss Gossweiler, who would have celebrated her 91st birthday November 22nd, was born in 1923, the second child and daughter of Albert and Louise (Forster) Gossweiler, in rural Rockwell. Selina was baptized and confirmed at the Rockwell Methodist Church by Rev. Oswald Sandbach. She attended Bath #6 and Owen #9 rural schools, until the family moved into Rockwell, where she attended Rockwell High School, graduating in 1941. Over the years she worked for Rockwell Hospital (1941-1943), Armour & Company (1943-1975), and the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department, where she held positions of Administrative Assistant, Office Manager, and Civil Deputy (1976-1990). Selina retired on August 31, 1990, from employment, but continued to be very active in her community service and volunteer roles. Selina was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and the K.B. Circle and UMW Board there; she was also a member of Mason City WA-TAN-YE Club (since 1962, honored for 50 years of service in 2012) and Mason City Woman’s Club. She is a former member of Rockwell Methodist Church, where she was also a Sunday School Superintendent, the Women’s Division of Mason City Chamber of Commerce, and R.S.V.P. She volunteered for Crime Stoppers, at Willson House as a Docent, at S.C.O.R.E, where she served as Secretary, and at UM Church office, as well as on various service and events committees. Selina is survived by siblings Helen (Gossweiler) Teeple, and Albert Gossweiler and his wife Dorothy, all of Mason City, Richard Gossweiler and his wife Naomi, Rockwell, and Nellie (Nell Gossweiler) Crafton of Lakewood, CO. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and grand-nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Dolores (Gossweiler) Hudson. Memorials in Selina’s name may be directed to either the First United Methodist Church or Hospice of North Iowa, 232 2nd St SE, Mason City, IA, 50401.

Inurnment will take place in Lynn Grove Cemetery, Rockwell, IA.
