Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, August 31, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Pastor Kathy Graves officiating. Sharon was born August 15, 1943, in Huron, South Dakota, the daughter of Carrol C. and Delores (Bailey) Clarke. Her family moved to Mason City in 1959. Sharon graduated from Mason City High School in 1961. Following graduation, Sharon moved to Phoenix, AZ for two years – where she worked at the Stock Exchange. On April 9, 1965, Sharon married her best friend, high school sweetheart, the love of her life Larry L. Carmody at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Mason City. To this union were born 2 beautiful daughters, Michele and Lisa. Over the years, she worked for Rugger & Co, CPA, Hogan Hanson, CPA, Latham Furniture, and Library Service Agency. She was a stay-at-home mom while the girls were young; she wanted to make memories and spend as much time with them as she could. Sharon was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Family was the most important for Sharon. She was someone we could count on to always be there for all of us. Michele and Lisa were her best friends. She loved getting together with them for coffee, craft shows, shopping (hunting for bargains) and camping trips. Sharon dearly loved her grandchildren and attending their activities. She was so proud of each of them and all they accomplished in whatever they set out to do. She made sure she was the one to make each of them a birthday cake every year. Being with family for cook-outs, birthdays or just sitting, talking and laughing were a few of her most treasured times. Holidays were always at her house, she would make enough food to feed an army; always trying to outdo herself the next year. She lived to make her family happy, she always put them first before herself. In Sharon and Larry’s earlier years, they could be found out on the town dancing every weekend. Their disco dance lessons were the most fun! Most of their time was spent on their acreage enjoying each others company. Sharon is survived by her husband of 47 years: Larry Carmody of Mason City; 2 daughters: Michele Hackett and husband Jake of Rock Falls, IA, and Lisa O’Dell and Dan of Mason City; 4 grandchildren: Jason Hackett of Rock Falls, Alex Hackett of Rock Falls, Morgan O’Dell of Mason City, and Jamison O’Dell of Mason City; her parents: Carrol and Delores Clarke of Henderson, NV; 1 sister: Kim Mason and husband Tony of Las Vegas, NV and her brother: Curtis Clarke and wife Flo of Minneapolis, MN. Niece Kate Clarke and nephews Josh Crawford and Brent Clarke.
