Sharon L. Pence

MASON CITY: Sharon L. Pence, 80, of Mason City, died Monday, December 28, 2015 at the Good Shepherd Health Center. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Rev. Dan Gerrietts, Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Lincoln Township Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa.

Sharon was born July 19, 1935 in Alta Vista, Iowa the daughter of Wilbur and Rosella (Bandal) Tietjen. She met her husband, Ernie, on a turkey farm and they were married in February of 1956 in the Little Brown Church, Nashua. Sharon was a simple lady and lived a simple life. She provided cleaning services at the Moose Lodge working along with her mother, Rosie. She would later work at McDonalds here in Mason City. Because of her bubbly personality, the girls at Fareway referred to her as “bubbles”. She enjoyed cats and watching game shows.

Sharon is survived by her 4 children, Denise (Leon) Hugi of Mason City, Clifford Pence of Ames, Penny (Mike) Gaiser of Mason City and Adrianna (David) Bell of Des Moines; 6 grandchildren, Angie (Brett) Wetter, Jean (Ryan) Renshaw, Jess E. Hugi, Alex (Kylie) Hugi, Davin Bell and Rebekah Bell; 6 great grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter due in April; good friend, Carolyn Funk.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ernie; aunt, Leona and step-son, LeRoy.
