Shirley Harrington

Shirley A. Harrington, 81, of Mason City, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 5, 2011 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania with the Rev. Kenneth Gehling officiating. Interment will be held in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held 12:30 P.M. till service time at the funeral home on Monday. Memorials may be directed to the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Shirley was born on August 24, 1930 in Wright County, IA, the daughter of Donovan V. and Lottie E. (Nickles) Pettinger. Shirley moved to Mason City at an early age, graduated from Mason City High School in 1948 and Hamilton Business College in 1949. On September 28, 1957 she married Paul J. Harrington at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mason City. They lived their entire lives in Mason City. She enjoyed camping over the years as the children were growing up, she also enjoyed her many trips to Branson, MO in her later years. She is survived by her three children, Terry A. Harrington and wife Karen, Cheryl Blakely and husband Randy, Patricia Harrington and special friend Willie Blakely; seven grandchildren, Sara and husband Marvin, April, Toby, Cody, Angelica, Jeremiah, Cassady; and three great grandchildren, Maryah, Trynitty, Mikhye, and Mira. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Paul Harrington in 2008.
