Stanley Charles Schaefer Jr., 71, of Mason City, IA, formerly of New Hope, MN, died Monday, September 15, 2014, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 27, 2014, at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4201 Regent Ave North, Robbinsdale, MN, with Pastor Douglas Good officiating. There will be a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the church service. Interment will be in the Gethsemane Cemetery in New Hope, MN. Memorials may be directed to the Stanley Schaefer memorial fund in care of the family. Stanley was born December 29, 1942, in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Shirley (Houser) and Stanley C. Schaefer Sr. He graduated from Robbinsdale Senior High School in 1961. On October 26, 1963, he married Beverly Scheef in Milbank, SD. Over the years he owned his own buisness as a door to door Milkman prior to being employed by Boyd Houser Candy and Tobacco. He later worked for R.E. Fritz and had a home based business selling Watkins products. He worked for 20 years with The Minneapolis Star & Tribune before his retirement in 2008. Stanley was also a retired volunteer firefighter for the city New Hope. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events. He also enjoyed woodworking and coaching hockey, soccer, baseball and football. He also enjoyed collecting department 56 houses. Stanley always tried to get others around him to laugh, by telling jokes or playing practical jokes. He and his wife were active in the church and would lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Stanley is survived by his mother: Shirley Schaefer of Crystal, MN; his daughter: Kristin Danielson and husband Jon of Mason City; 4 grandchildren: Ryan Schaefer of Eagan, MN, Matt, Rachel and Nick Danielson, all of Mason City; 2 sisters: Marge With of Littleton, CO and Beth Shefveland of Crystal; 1 brother: William Schaefer and wife Rose of Clarkston, MI; and sister-in-law: Shirley Lundborg and husband Ron of Milbank. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father: Stanley Schaefer Sr.; his wife of 50 years: Beverly; and 2 sons: Stanley Schaefer III and Steven Schaefer.

Interment will be in the Gethsemane Cemetery in New Hope, MN.
