Mason City Steven Douglas True, 57, of Mason City, died Sunday, June 27, 2010, at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 8, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church,119 South Georgia, with the Rev. Jim Stiles officiating. Interment will be held in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery with Military Honors performed by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association. Visitation will be held from 4:00 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Steven D. True memorial fund, First Citizens Bank, 2601 4th St. S.W. 50401. Steven Douglas True was born on December 3, 1952, in Mason City, Iowa, to Carl and Clara True. He was the fourth of fourteen children. He attended Holy Family School through 8th grade and graduated from Mason City High School in 1971. He then married his high school sweetheart, Julie Burkart on May 9, 1971, with whom he was married for seventeen years and had six children. After high school, Steve joined the Air Force, and was based at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, from 1972 to 1975. After returning to Mason City, Steve started bartending at the Stoned Toad, which he later purchased. Steve enjoyed playing pool, darts, and softball, and was involved in various leagues. He also enjoyed outdoor activities like hiking and fishing. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, going on long rides in the car, and hosting his annual Stoned Toad hog roasts. Steve is survived by his six children, Stephanie Moon, Eric (Tara) True, Sara (Adam) Gutierrez, Stacey True and friend Joe Keane, Shawn True and friend Brandon Frank, and Shelby True. He is also survived by his thirteen brothers and sisters, Richard (Sue) True, Thomas (Rhonda) True, Dennis (Lisa) True, David (Judy) True, Randall True, Debra True (Roger Herman), Kenneth (Jayna) True, Cynthia Stricker (Brian Smith), Rebecca (Anthony) Shannon, Jennifer (Lance) Nielsen, Donald (Ericka) True, Robert (Bridget) True, Karen (Mark)Hendrickson; his eight grandchildren: Garrette, Blake and Reese True, Alexandra Moon, Adan and Kyan Gutierrez, Leila Buffington, and Maleah True along with many nieces and nephews and his special friend Vicky Murphy. Steve is preceded in death by his parents and his son-in-law Chad Moon.

Cemetery:
