Vendel L. ?Bud? Dority, 80 of 431 24th St. SW, died Friday, August 6, 2005 at St. Mary?s Hospital, Rochester, Minnesota. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Bud Dority Memorial Fund. Bud was born October 9, 1924 in Quilin, Missouri the son of Floyd and Myrtle (Cunningham) Dority. He served in the US Army during WW II. Bud moved to Mason City in 1954. He managed Clean Towel Industrial Service here in Mason City for over 30 years. He retired in 1981. Bud was a member of the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and along with wife, Lavonne, wintered in Florida for 17 years. Bud is survived by wife; Lavonne of Mason City, sons; Lee Dority of Mason City, Ted Dority of Mason City; step-children, Linda Smith and husband Ronald of Mason City, Garianne Fuller of Mason City, Devvy Waslick of Mason City, Jay Waslick of Mason City, Johnnie Waslick and wife Gale of Clear Lake; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; step-brother, Jack Wilderspin and wife Ilene of Onaway, Michigan; step-sister, Lila Clothier of Indian River, Michigan; many nieces and nephews. Bud was preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife, Bertha; son, Dale; sister, Lila Dean and step-brother, Donald Wilderspin.
