Verda I. Jacobs, 96, of Mason City died Friday, June 15, 2012, at the IOOF Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, June 22, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church-WAYside Chapel, 119 S. Georgia Ave., with Pastor Sean McRoberts officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the church service on Friday in the WAYside Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the IOOF Home or Hospice of North Iowa. Verda I. Jacobs was born March 9, 1916 in Portland Township, rural Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Malcolm G. and Gertrude (O’Harrow) Bell. She attended schools in Mason City. She was married to Earl F. Jacobs on May 2, 1933 in Mason City, Iowa and had two daughters, Phyllis and Marlene. Verda liked to work in her yard and garden and was a great cook. She enjoyed fishing trips to Lake Milac with “Buss” and the fish fries with the family when they returned were wonderful. For their 50th wedding anniversary, Verda and Buss took a trip to Hawaii. In her retirement, she enjoyed playing cards and was a member of a bowling team consisting of 80 year old ladies. She is survived by her daughter, Marlene (Larry Stille) Moore of Rockford; four grandchildren, Tari (Kent Balsley) Marson, Melanie Nelson, Christy (Chris) Bradford, Michael (Nona)Moore; five great-grandchildren, Jessica Marson, Amanda Marson, Nathaniel Moore, Emily Bradford, Rachel Moore; sister, Mary Cross; sister-in-law, Delores Bell, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl (Buss) Jacobs; daughter, Phyllis A. Nelson; sister, Arcley Nelson; brother, Malcolm Bell; son-in-law Ronald K. Nelson; son-in-law Wm. Miles Moore.

Cemetery:
Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the IOOF Home or Hospice of North Iowa.
