Verola V. Olson

Verola V. Olson, 94, of 324 2nd St. NE died Thursday, June 9, 2005 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1405 S. Pennsylvania Avenue with Rev. Bill Poland and Rev. Keith Scott officiating. Interment will be 1:30 PM in Evergreen Cemetery, Britt. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue and continue one hour before services at the church on Wednesday. Memorials may be given to the Verola V. Olson Memorial Fund. Verola was born March 20, 1911 in Corwith, Iowa the daughter of Ira and Laura (Dunfee) Bunting. She attended country schools in Iowa and Minnesota. She graduated from Albert Lea High School. Verola married Oscar R. Olson October 14, 1935 in Waterloo. The Olson?s moved to rural Mason City in 1938. Verola was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church since 1948 and a member of the church circle. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, traveling and crafts. Verola is survived by her children, Ramona Hauan and husband Russell of Mason City, Carlyn Miller and husband Roger of Medford, Oregon, Sandra Turner and husband John F. of Mason City; grandchildren, Kevin Diekhuis, Roxanne Miller, Jerald Miller, Cynthia Swanson and husband Dan, Cheryl Hicok, the widow of deceased grandson, Terry Diekhuis; great grandchildren, Pamela Diekhuis, Jennifer Diekhuis Mallo, David Marshall, Kelly Harbacheck, Brian Marshall, Christopher Marshall, Matthew Swanson, Nathan Swanson, Stacie Miller, Rachel Swanson; great great grandchildren, Jamison Diekhuis, Dylan Mallo; Verola was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, Terry Diekhuis; brothers, Galen and Arvin Bunting.
