Visitation will be 5-7 PM Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave.
Viola was born April 25, 1929 in Mason City, IA, the third of eight children to Fred and Irene Stockberger. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1947 and then married James R. Bob' Kilfoil. They went on to have five children; Karen, Linda, Michael, Nancy and Jane. In 1969 she married Ernest Godfredsen, and in 1982 married LeRoy Fisk.
Viola worked at CoMo Photo, then Guardian Photo, for many years. Her photography hobby amused and sometimes annoyed her family; as she believed in remembering every family event, and non-event, with pictures lots of pictures!
Viola felt that family was the most important thing; she enjoyed spending time with the family members who lived close and traveling to visit the ones who were far away.
Viola was always a bird lover. She took pride in her home and garden and kept a journal of all the birds she attracted. She was an active volunteer in her children's activities through the years. A favorite hobby in her later years was sewing and she took pleasure in making many beautiful dolls and stuffed animals. At Christmas she always baked dozens of cookies and shared them with everyone who came to visit. She was an avid walker and loved combining her daily walk with visiting her circle of friends at the mall. She was a long-time member of the Wesley United Methodist Church.
Viola is survived by her children: Karen (John) Oelkers of Mason City, Linda (Tim) Gardner of Helena, MT, Michael (Carolyn) Kilfoil of Vancouver, WA, Nancy (Marlen) Stricker of Clear Lake, IA, Jane (Michael) Peach of Sedona, AZ; stepchildren: Georgia Hackleman, Glennis Stroeh, Donna Monson, David Godfredsen, Nancy Hoffbauer, Gary Fisk, grandchildren: Loretta & Chris Oelkers, Travis Tonn & Sam Gardner, Match & Ezra Kilfoil, Derek & Sara Stricker, Zachary Peach, Tiffany & Steffanie Fisk, Ryan Hackleman, Jason Stroeh; great grandchildren: Taylor, Lakotah, Yonatan, Mirabella, Elijah, Cooper, Ashley, Alex and Aiden; sister Winifred Rasmussen, and brother George Stockberger.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, twin brothers in infancy, brother: Lloyd Stockberger, two sisters: Ellen Weiss and Betty Clark, and niece: Caroline Dyer.
She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
