Virginia Mae Haag

March 11, 1941 — September 1, 2010

Mason City Virginia Mae Haag, 69, lifelong resident of Mason City, died Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the Heritage Care Center. Graveside services will be held 2:30 P.M. Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Memorial Park Cemetery, with Rev. Steve Hansen of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating. There will be no visitation. A time for refreshments and sharing of memories will be held at Sheryl and Jon Mariners home at 1408 South Hampshire Ave. in Mason City following the graveside services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Virginia Mae Haag memorial fund in care of Darold Haag, 2814 South Madison, Mason City, IA 50401. \r\n
Virginia was born on March 11, 1941 in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Lloyd Haag and Bernice (Johnson) Haag. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1959.\r\n
She was employed by Kentucky Fried Chicken for a number of years and then worked for Target for almost 20 years until she retired due to poor health. She had two passions in her life; real country music such as Bill Anderson and the Statler Brothers and her Boston Terriers. She was talented with a crochet hook and made beautiful afghans and wall hangings. Christmas candles that Virginia made, such as fudge and turtles, were family favorites. Virginia is survived by her brother, Darold Haag and wife Sharon of Mason City; sister-in-law, Reanie Haag of Mason City; ten nieces and nephews, Jay Haag, Celess (Bart) Walker, Rod (Sheila) Haag, Sherrie Haag, Bruce (Renee) Haag, Mike Haag, Rusty (Samantha) Haag, Lori (Dean Adams) Haag, Dean (Kyla) Haag, Sheryl (Jon) Mariner and their families, as well as a very special cousin, Eva Lowenberg and several other cousins.\r\n
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Duane and Bill Haag.
