Vivian Bennett, 85, of Mason City, died Friday, December 28, 2007 at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Memorial services will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 6, 2008 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Pastor Tom Healey, Chaplain ? Hospice of North Iowa, officiating. A gathering of friends and family will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa. Vivian was born February 27, 1922 in Mason City, IA, the daughter of Edward and Martha (Haase) Gorman. She attended Mason City High School. She was united in marriage to Robert Bennett on August 23, 1943 in New London, Connecticut by the Justice of the Peace prior to Robert being deployed to the Pacific in World War II. After the war, they settled in Chicago, IL and later returned to Mason City to raise their family. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, dancing, drawing & crafting, and was an avid collector of ?Betty Boop? memorabilia. Vivian also enjoyed traveling to state and national bowling tournaments, and was active in local leagues for many years. Vivian and Robert spent many enjoyable hours at the Surf Ballroom listening and dancing to the Big Band Era. Vivian is survived by her husband Robert; four children: Leslie Daly of St. Louis Park, MN, Cynthia Heine of Chicago, IL, Robin Bennett and wife Susan of Mason City, and Todd Bennett of Milwaukee, WI; four grandchildren: Clinton and Judson Heine & Alex and Parris Bennett; two great grandchildren: Eben and Mikey Heine. She is also survived by two sisters: Janice Burgess of Cedar Rapids, IA and Mileen Sinclair of Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Ed Gorman and Howard Gorman, who passed away the same day as Vivian; and two sisters: Dorothy Lindquist and Francis Jimenez. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
