Wava L. Christensen

Wava L. Christensen, age 101, of Mason City, died Sunday, January 31, 2010, at Good Shepherd Health Center. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, February 5, 2010 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Rev. Keith Scott of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating. There will a gathering of family and friends from 4:00 PM 6:00 PM on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Major Erickson Funeral Home. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Wava Christensen Memorial Fund.
Wava was born June 20, 1908, in Kingsley, KS, the daughter of Samuel N. and Nettie E. (Trebilcock) Pine. She graduated from Mason City High School. Wava married Clifford Christensen on March 20, 1927 in Mason City. She was a member of the VH Club and the Birthday Club. Wava enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, camping, fishing, quilting, crocheting, tending to her flower garden and being outdoors. Wava was the Boss.
Wava is survived by her children: Kenneth Christensen and wife Nancy of Mason City, Janice Bergan of Mason City; 10 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 15 great great grandchildren; and one brother: Ivan Pine of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Clifford in 1982; one son: Duane Christensen; one daughter: Beverly Olsen; one sister: Rita Christiansen; one brother: Merle Pine; two son-in-laws: Richard Bergan and Lynn Olsen.
