Wayne F. Rathmann, 82, of Mason City, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1405 S. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Rev. Steve Hansen officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday (June 8, 2012) at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Wayne Rathmann memorial fund in care of the family. Wayne was born November 23, 1929, in Hampton, IA, the son of Albert and Minnie (Olk) Rathmann. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Hampton High School in 1947. Wayne married Jeanyce Johnson on April 6, 1957, in Mason City. On December 27, 1950, Wayne enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served his country for 3 years during the Korean War as a Machinery Repairman Second Class. Over the years, Wayne worked for the State Brand Creamery, Iowa Hardware Mutual – which later became Iowa Kemper Insurance Company, Calahan Walters Insurance and Plumb Supply. He would try and fix anything that was broke. If he couldn’t fix it, it would make something to fix it. Wayne enjoyed fishing, bowling, camping, golfing, dancing, scroll saw work, fixing clocks and spending time in his shop. He also built riding lawn mowers and a pontoon. Wayne was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. Over the years he has been active in Toastmasters, Junior Achievement, the Rotary Cannonball, Evening Lions Club, the Senior Citizen Center and the Kinney Pioneer Museum. Wayne is survived by two daughters: Kay Rathmann of Mason City and Lea Baker and husband Chris of Mason City; two granddaughters: Brittany Baker and fiancé Michael Beeler of Ames, IA and Sydney Baker of Mason City; special friend: Shirley Hansen of Mason City; sister: Helen Stauffacher of Bensalem, PA; and brother-in-law: Lloyd Maifield of Hampton. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Jeanyce in 2001; sister: Lillian Maifield; brother-in-law: Dick Stauffacher; and his mother & father-in-law: J. Raymond (Dick) and Ruth Johnson.

Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery
