Wilma Stromley

Wilma J. Stromley, 76, of Mason City, IA, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa. A celebration of life gathering will be held from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM with a time of sharing at 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Memorials may be directed to the Wilma Stromley memorial fund in care of the family.

Wilma was born August 30, 1940, in Evansville, IN, the daughter of Joe and Marjorie (Liffick) Kingston. She attended school in Ohio. On December 12, 1964, Wilma was united in marriage to Rodney M. Stromley in Long Beach, CA. They returned to Mason City to raise their seven children. She and her husband owned The Gopher Hole in Nora Springs, IA where she enjoyed spending time with her many friends. Wilma loved spending time with her family. She also loved crocheting, cooking, shooting pool, singing karaoke and listening to music (old songs). She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 9966 where she served as president. Wilma also believed in finding a cure for cancer and participated in “Jump for Cancer”. On multiple occasions she jumped out an airplane to support the cause.

Wilma is survived by her 7 children: Tina Stapleton and husband Gary of Cedar Falls, IA, Terry Stromley of Des Moines, IA, Scott Stromley and wife Donna of Owatonna, MN, Todd Stromley and special friend Sue of Mason City, Kristie Huber and husband Doug of Mason City, Julie Puentes and husband Rosendo of Mason City, and Chad Stromley and wife Tina of Fertile, IA; 18 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 7 siblings: Delores Dodge and husband Jimmy of Mason City, Bill Kingston and wife Pat of Northwood, IA, James Kingston and wife Susie of Mason City, Martha Waters-Duty of Myrtle Beach, SC, Debra Kaduce of Beaver Creek, OH, Kenneth Kingston and wife Kathy of Bellbrook, OH, and Steven Kingston of Mason City; brothers and sisters-in-law: Marge Saathoff and husband Dean of Mason City, Barb Smith and husband George of Mason City, Ruben Stromley and wife Helen of Mason City, and Mike Stromley and wife Nancy of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2016; 3 siblings: Eddie Kaduce, Georgia Shepherd and Wayne Kingston; and brother-in-law: Wayne Stromley.
