Zella I. Dobbins, 76 of Britt, Iowa died suddenly on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at the Mercy One North Iowa Medical Center, Mason City, Iowa. A memorial service and inurnment will be held at a later date at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Albany, New York.
Zella was born on January 31, 1946, in Stephentown, New York to the late Ransom and Angeline Sedgwick. Zella grew up in New York before moving to Alabama where she lived for over 30 years then moved to Britt Iowa 12 years ago to be closer to her sister Rayette Ebbers.
Zella is survived by her children Gloria (Paul) Maxwell of Alabama, Missy (Debbie) Coonradt of Florida, Michael (Arlene) Coonradt of New York, Peter (Annmarie) Coonradt of Florida and Tony (Hywautha) Muhammad of New York. She is also survived by her sister Rayette Ebbers of Iowa, Florine Abadia of New York, and Ransom Sedgwick of Florida. She leaves a legacy of many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Zella loved her fury baby and companion Oliver who predeceased her in March. Zella was an avid crafter who loved crocheting and needlepoint and loved giving her creations away to friends and family. Zella was also an avid supporter of many charities, especially the Wounded Warriors.
A very special thank you is given to Zella’s loving and supportive sister Rayette for being so attentive and always being there for her when she needed her over the years. The family would also like to thank the Westview Care Center in Britt, Iowa and to all of the caring staff that provided such loving care during her stay.
