Zelma Rae Johnson, 86, of Mason City, died Friday, November 24, 2006 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM Monday (November 27, 2006) at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams with Rev. Jon Seda officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be given to the Zelma Rae Johnson Memorial Fund. Zelma Rae Johnson was born March 19, 1920 in Mason City, the daughter of Lacey and Amanda (Carson) Watkins. She attended school in both Mason City and Clear Lake, graduating from Clear Lake. She was married to Robert F. Johnson, to this union four children were born. Zelma and her husband spent most of their life living in Mason City. She enjoyed cooking, crossword puzzles, and crocheting and was especially known for being a great cook. She also enjoyed vacationing in Willmar, MN with her late husband. She was a long-time member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Zelma is survived by her children, Elizabeth Engstler and husband Marvin of Garner, Paul Johnson and wife Deb of Mason City, Joe Johnson of Hackensack, MN, and Ellen Johnson-Maye and husband Mike of Seattle, WA; many grandchildren and great-grandhildren; sisters, Donita Evenson of Beresford, SD, and Betty Jean Fiske of Garner; numerous nieces and nephews and her special cat, Romeo. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bob; sister, Mary Ann; and daughter-in-law Joan Johnson. Major Erickson and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. (641)423-0924.
